Airspace
Airspace is the portion of the atmosphere controlled by a country above its territory, including its territorial waters or, more generally, any specific three-dimensional portion of the atmosphere. It has multiple categories and types that are dictated by the complexity or density of aircraft movements or nature of the operations conducted within the airspace.
Aeronautical charts are the roadmap for pilot flying VFR (Visual Flight Rules). It provides information that allows pilots to track their position and to enhance safety. More details will be discussed later in this course.
Course Objectives
- Learn the different symbology applicable to airspaces and aeronautical charts
- Understand why and how to use these resources to increase the overall situational awareness during all phases of flight.
- Demonstrate the ability to apply the restrictions and regulations applicable to the pilot when flying in different airspaces.
